Someone please tell me to stop watching *NSYNC videos! Title: The Bigaku Fandom: Runaways Character(s)/Pairing(s): Gert Rating: PG-13 for a girl in her undies in a non-sexual manner Disclaimer: Gert and Runaways belongs to Marvel Note: I drew this picture based off of a post on Fandom!Secrets made here (number 64). I had never drawn something like this before, and it seemed like a fun challenge, especially due to my recent finding of "Runaways" right before I saw the secret. I hope I did right by you, Anon! I'm kinda angry with my scanner, as it didn't pick up all of the colors perfectly. But doesn't everything look better in person? Okay not everything, but you get my point, I think. As for the title, it's a pun. "Bigaku" is the Japanese word for "Aesthetics", and since this picture is all about physical beauty, it fits. It also has the word "Big" in it, and she is a big girl. I also happened to be listening to the song "The Bigaku" by Aya Matsuura...hehe ^^; ( NSFW! Wait, it's Sunday... )Crossposted to the_leapfrog and My dA. _____________________________ ( So, how about them Red Sox? )AND THAT IS ALL ON THAT. I still wish I got NESN though.... _____________________________ I've made jokes before comparing Mets infielders and boyfriends José Reyes and David Wright to Japanese idols and lesbian lovers Miki Fujimoto and Aya Matsuura. Well, I was browsing Ayaya's page on wiki.theppn.org, and I came across the album artwork for her single "The Bigaku": Um, yeah. I'm pretty sure Ayaya's David, as she is the sweeter one, and Mikitty is José because she is the crazier one. Plus Mikitty's scandals=José's struggles, where as Ayaya and David have been pretty much always perfect. The actual video doesn't having wearing the costume, but it's cute: ( It's has nothing on the lesbianess of GAM's 'Melodies' though ) Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: "It's Gonna Be Me" by *NSYNC | | Monday, March 24th, 2008 | | 10:19 pm |
Lejo Tiempo, No Les Veía! OMG, a post. YES. BELIEVE IT. Anyways, I'll play a quick catch up before I get into the meat of the post. *My real life is super-busy, hence the lack of postage. But I will try to post more often, even if they are short posts! As for things that aren't excuses: * I got tickets to The Police! Well, actually, my mother ordered them, but they are awesome and close to the stage! * I have a crazy obsession with Eli Manning of the New York Giants. I think anime, Korean boy bands, Heroes, the Red Sox, the Disney Channel, and Hitomi Yoshizawa have all given me an obsession with effeminate men, and Eli is like a delicate flower. I will tell you more about this later... * Tucker Carlson's show ended, and I have this entire amazing, introspective post about it I was gonna make about it, but it will wait for now. I have other things to do. First off... ( HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY INTLWOTA!! )________________________ I was inspired to post that following by my Ayaya best friend, 1863_project. She had written a liveblog for one of the Boston Red Sox's games in Japan. I was busy so I never really read it, but one player's name stood out to me- Kimura Takuya. If you don't know, that is also the name of a member of SMAP. So Steph and I were talking about it, as she suggested a Johnny's version of the team that the Red Sox were playing, the Yomiuri Giants. However, I know nothing of Johnny's or the Giants, but as many people know (I think), I am a huge fan of H!P and Boston Red Sox. I started to comment back with some players that matched up with various Red Sox players, only it got a little long and I decided to post it here instead... ( Well, the Sox are in Japan... )__________________________ I believe many of you know of my love of the High School Musical 2 song "Bet On It", performed by Zac Efron (I've mentioned it two times). But I don't think I've ever mentioned how much I love "In The Heights", a brand new Broadway play about Latino life in Washington Heights. I saw it off-Broadway, and am planning on getting Broadway tickets as well. Needless to say, when I saw this, I flipped: ( Greatest HSM Parody EVER )OMG LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA IF I DIDN'T LOVE YOU ALREADY I SURE LOVE YOU NOW. I love how it's exactly like the scene in the movie, only it's making fun of it, but in a way that's actually funny and cute. Lin fails at being Zefron, but is so adorable about it! And the random appearance of a certain actor from another Broadway musical that I love was so awesome! ROLE OF ACTOR WHOSE NAME I'M NOT REVEALING AS NOT TO SPOIL THE SURPRISE/USNAVI OTP!! xD Though they are from completely different time periods, so I don't know how that would work...Anyways, I think that is one of my favorite parts, along with the thing with the dust, his dorky expression at the part with Karen Olivo, and little!Lin. It's pretty much ftw the win. AND NOW YOU MUST SEE THIS SHOW. AND IF YOU ALREADY HAVE, GO SEE IT AGAIN! Talk to you guys soon! I hope...8^^ Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: "Bet On It" by Lin-Manuel Miranda | | Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 | | 12:17 pm |
Trying to make this Heroes review as vague as possible... I'M IN DENIAL ABOUT NATHAN. And I totally called what happened to Niki. I'm still upset about it though...She was really kickass and amazing this episode too. Also, that scene that showed what Hiro did ot Adam-BRILLIANT. Hiro seemed so badass! ^^ And I think I'm in love with Elle now. She was just awesome-sause this epsiode. I promise a longer entry later! :) Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: None | | Sunday, November 25th, 2007 | | 9:14 pm |
Sorry I haven't posted in five years! xD I've been rather busy lately! Anyways, some quick ideas on things I missed: *Red Sox win the World Series- ^_____^ ...Papelbooooooon..... ilu, my riverdancer...*Maki Goto's graduation- I wish all the luck in the world to Gocchin! I recently bought her latest album off of iTunes, and really enjoyed it, but if that's not the direction she wants to go in, I will support her. I was never big on the forced "sexy" image, but her songs have been very mature and creative, particularly the album-only tracks. I hope she gets resigned soon! *Writer's Strike- Yeah, I support the writers! They only want about 1.5%, and not all writers are super rich like Sorkin or something. I think it's fair that they get paid to work. What if you were hired at a McDonalds, and the management refused to pay you because you were "new and they didn't know if you were long-term or not?" You'd sue! Well, that's hte argument that the CEOs are giving to the writers, and it's not right! *Lucas Grabeel and Oreskaband are doing a movie together- Wow! I'm used to my J-pop fandom colliding with my love of The Colbert Report, but with my Disney Channel fandom? And with my favorite DC star in particular? ^^ I was actually getting into Oreskaband when I heard the news, because I really enjoyed their Bleach theme. So to see such a talented group from Japan work with one of the most talented young star from the US is not only shocking, but really amazing! *Heroes- ( Spoilers if you aren't caught up! )*Wizards of Waverly Place premieres- I have a whole rant on this show for later, but let me just say it seriously bothers me, and annoys me like no other show on Disney Channel does. Not even Cory in the House, my previous least favorite DC show, bothers me this much, because it's just boring. Not even the Cheetah Girls bother me this much. Not even Zanessa. Yeah, it bothers me, and it is kinda personal. On a similar note, I actually really like Hannah Montana now. I mainly ship Jackson/Oliver, but I think Lily/Oliver and Jake/Miley are cute too. I'm tired, so good night, and expect a better post soon (with some fic!) DUMBLEDORE First off, Dumbledore was clearly trying to seduce Snape here. But, go JKR! Way to promote tolerance! I've seen some people take it the wrong way and write Dumbledore as a pedo, though. *shakes head* Pedo =/= Gay! ________________________________________ _ Grabbed from bank_farterDrabble MemeThe first fifteen people to comment on this post get to request a drabble from you. In return, they have to post this meme in their journal. Post all fandoms you’re willing to write for.I'm willing to write for "Heroes", "Scrubs", "FullMetal Alchemist", Hello!Project, "The Office", "30 Rock", or "High School Musical". Give me a pairing and a prompt so I can give you want you'd like! ________________________________________ _ Recently I've been really into "30 Rock" and "The Office". I caught a marathon of 30 Rock on Bravo before the new season's premiere, and really liked it (Tucker was in an episode too! ^^), and I picked up The Office on the suggestion of a friend who is obsessed with it. Both of them are really funny and unique. I've been a Tina Fey fan since "Mean Girls", but I never had the time to watch "30 Rock" before. I love it so much though! It's just so insane, and I love how everyone is just really weird, but totally loveable. And the cast is so good too! The last episode was really cute and sweet, with ( Spoilers for '30 Rock' episode 2x03 ). Oddly enough, I have no ships for "30 Rock", but one of my favorite parts of "The Office" is shipping. That is, shipping Pam and Jim! They are just way too amazing of a couple not to. I love how they're romantic, but not in an over-the-top disgusting way. And I love seeing them just talking. For some reason, their conversations are just one of the most interesting part of the show for me, especially when they revolve around either something really random or playing a prank on Dwight. And the Italian food part from last episode....I'm so jealous of them! No one finds love like that in real life! >( They're clearly my OTP for this show, but I can't help thinking of the idea of Dwight and Andy fighting over Michael. I know they're currently fighting over Angela, but I was watching season three (I've watched the first two discs of the boxset so far), and it's all about them fighting for Michael's attention. Hmmm...and Michael is such an obvious closet case, and Jim's "gaydar" DID go off on Dwight...xD Current Mood: bouncyCurrent Music: "Special Generation" by Berryz Koubou | | Tuesday, October 9th, 2007 | | 12:08 am |

First off, if have not heard Lucas Grabeel's new single "You Got It", I'm putting it up for download here (though I'd suggest you buy it on iTunes, as it was just put up there). I swear, it's one of the best songs I've heard in awhile from the US pop scene. It's very experimental, and it doesn't really have a melody, but the lines "You git it so good/Make this dance floor hot", and similar lines are repeated. That sounds repetitive, but each time Lucas sings the line, it's in a different way. It's like he couldn't decided if he wanted to sing it nonchalantly, or if wanted to belt it, or rap it, or croon it, so it just decided to play around with his voice and see what came out. He's extremely talented vocally, so he can just do this, and it sounds amazing! This is a dance song, clearly, if the lyrics I put above don't make this clear. Similar to the vocals, the beat is extremely creative, and there is no one sound. There's an acoustic guitar pretty much throughout the whole song, but various keyboards, more guitars, a harmonica, and "sci-fi" sounds mixed into different beats throughout keep the song fresh, but it feels all like the same track. ________________________________________ __ HEROES SEASON TWO TOMORROW!! I'm so excited! I've been watching the first season DVD obsessively, so I'm all prepared for the new season! xD And the Entertainment Weekly issue with Masi in armor on the cover...*pile of fangirl mush* I can't wait to see the new season, especially with all of the new characters-especially Kensei! And I wonder what's happened to everyone to. Well, we know about Hiro, but Sylar seems to have slithered into a sewer, nad it looks like Peter and Nathan went kaboom, but everyone is in the promotion for the new season (well, I was assuming Peter would stay alive due to his regenerating powers and all, but I'm still curious about him, along with everyone else). _______________________________________ Also, I'm doing that meme where you have people comment with a fandom/character/pairing, and you comment back with three personal canon facts about them. So, fandom away! xD Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: "You Got It" by Lucas Grabeel | | Monday, September 3rd, 2007 | | 8:09 pm |
First off, 1863_project wrote me an amazing fic involving two of her (amazingly slashy) original characters. It's here. She's a great writer-very funny and cute, but not too over the top. She's very influenced by British humour like Monty Python and Peter Cook as well. AND SHE WROTE IT FOR MEEEEE!! *still can't get over that* _________________________________ Okay, so I got two memes to do. First one, from usagiko. Comment on this post. I will choose 6 interests from your profile and you will explain what each of them means (and why you're interested in them). If you comment and don't want to do it, just let me know.1. Doctor Who Doctor Who is a long-running British sci-fi show about an alien (known as just "The Doctor") who travels through time and space. I love DW because it's so weird. For instance, when the Doctor dies, he just regenerates into a new body! And Daleks!! They're the Doctor's mortal enemy, and they like to exterminate things, scream about how they like to exterminate things, and think about exterminating things. Honestly, Daleks are the best part of DW. Every time they appear, DW suddenly gets even crackier (if that's even possible/a word). And that's a picture of a Dalek up there. 2. Aya An awesome Japanese rock singer. I've posted one her songs on my letter meme, and since I got another, I'll be posting another one of her songs below. Anyways, I love her powerful sound-she's got a really great rock voice, and she sings with this bad ass attitude. And it doesn't hurt that the guitar riffs in her songs are amazing. If anyone is interested, I'll post up some of her albums! 3. Anderson Cooper You must be living under a rock on Mars if you don't know who Anderson Cooper is. Anyways, he's the (very pretty) face of CNN. I love how he reports the news with empathy when it's serious, or with humour when the story calls for it. Andy is all about journalistic integrity, and he delivers it, being caring without seeming like he's pushing a political view. And he is a sexy, rich gay man.4. Superbad The new Judd Apatow movie, about two boys, Seth and Evan, who want to get laid over the summer. The premise seems very "American Pie", and the movie follows in that suit (from what I've heard-I've never actually seen "American Pie"). Seth and Evan may be horny teenage boys, but they are also very sweet, which makes this film a lot different that a log the the dirty male-oriented comedy out these days. And I can't stop quoting it, especially McLovin and the cops! I have to go see it again now... 5. Strangers With Candy A funny TV series and movie about a forty year old ex-convict who goes back to high school. It's a parody of seventies after school specials, and it's funny as hell. I admit, I've only seen the movie, but I'm ordering the TV series on DVD so I'll be able to watch it soon. First off, this series has the ever-popular Stephen Colbert in it, which is the reason I got into it. But the protagonist is Jerri Blank, who is hilariously portrayed by Amy Sedaris, who makes some of the weirdest, funniest facial expressions I've ever seen. This series is just weird as hell! And as a bonus for slash fangirls, Stephen and Paul Dinello portray a dysfunctional gay couple. 6. RPS Real Person Slash, or slashing actors, musicians, news people, and other non-fictional people. My main RPS fandom is clearly Pundit RPS, which is one of the most crackish, awesome fandoms I've ever been in. I didn't even know there were others who thought Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert were made for each other! xD I like actorfic for some of my fictional fandoms too. As mentioned in an earlier post, Zach Braff and Donald Faison are just as slashy as their Scrubs characters (just click the link for video proof! xD), and anyone who has seen High School Musical:The Concert and their baseball commercial knows Lucas Grabeel and Corbin Bleu are so a couple! :P ________________________________ The second meme is a song one. My letter was "B", which was challenging because I have fifty-eight songs on my hard drive that start with a "B", a lot of them really good. But I narrowed it down and got this list- 1. "Bet On It" by Zac Efron I've previously talked about this song, or to better put it, the scene in High School Musical 2 including this song. It needs to be seen to truly enjoy this song for the crack it is- Wow, Zefron, wow. GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY. Anyways, hte song itself is pretty good. It's very similar to "Eye of the Tiger", only more modern. I know it sound like a terrible song from that description, but it's actually a pretty good song-very catchy, and Zac's a pretty good singer (though he was better in "Hairspray"). 2. "Blue Butterfly" by Aya If the opening guitar riff doesn't make you fall in love with Aya, nothing else will. Well, actually, if you don't love this song, nothing else will make you love Aya. But the opening guitar riff is just that good. It's beautiful and edgy without being cliched, which is hard to get. The whole song is amazing-she really plays around with her voice in the verses, and they really show off her fluency (or at least amazing pronunciation) of English. The chorus is strong, sexy, and raw, with Aya singing "Tell me, tell me when you're gonna die/Sweet blue butterfly". This song is one of the most amazing songs every recorded. Every time I hear it, it feels even more powerful and amazing. YOU MUST LISTEN TO IT AND LOVE IT OR I WILL HATE YOU. Okay, just kidding, but you get my drift... 3. "Body Feels EXIT" by Namie Amuro Namie Amuro before she brought hip-hop to the Japanese masses and become the Queen of Hip-Pop. This is her first solo single, a fun, sexy eurobeat track. It's a dance track, but it doesn't get repetitive or boring like many do. The beat has a very dark, anxious feel to it, and Namie's vocal just make the feeling grow. It's about love, but instead of a very calm, peaceful love, this one is anxious, confused love. This song feels like standing out in a thunderstorm, declaring your love. 4. "Bye My Boy" by the brilliant green I had no BuriGuri on any of these list yet, despite them being amazing. This song isn't one of their best, but it's a fun, pretty song, and the chorus is really catchy. BuriGuri is a great group-they are hard to categorize. They're pop-rock, but there aren't particularly loud or obnoxious, but they aren't quiet. They write some of the prettiest, catchiest melodies out there, and they love to play around with their sound, while staying recognizable. I know this isn't a great description, but it's a really good song-trust me! 5. "baby beautiful" by Aiha Higurashi More Aiha! ^^ I love Aiha's voice against the simple, ticking guitar in the beginning of this song. She sings very breathy, and it sounds very sexy and European. The guitars get slightly more complex throughout in the song, but they stay simple and pretty. This song is very simple and she repeats the same melody a lot, but she changes her inflections every time so it's not repetitive. 6. "Brand New Wave Upper Ground" by Judy and Mary I love this song! The distorted guitars throughout and Yuki's unique, nasally voice show off how strange this group can be. The song is great though, with great hooks and the fun, old school feel. I adore Yuki's voice-it's nasally, weird, loud, and completely hers. She actually has a pretty powerful voice, and it's in full effect throughout this song. That, with the weird guitars throughout, make this song feel very fun and almost sixties-ish. I can imagine peace signs and rainbows when I hear this song! 7. "BLOWING OUT" by Mika Nakashima One of the few awesome songs from Mika Nakashima's turn as Nana Osaki in the live-action version of the manga "NANA". Overall, Anna Tsuchiya did better in the anime, but Mika Nakashima didn't do too badly, especially since she's mostly a jazz-pop singer. The chorus to this song is particularly great. It's really catchy and rocking. The whole song is a lot of fun, and feels a bit like one of the "NANA" songs that Anna would do. 8. "Baby Love Child" by Pizzicato Five Not only was there no BuriGuri, but there was no P5! I adore this song-it's really weird and pretty and dreamy. It's all about teenage hippie love, as shown by the psychedelic feel to this song, and the Nah-nah-nah-I-can't-hear-you-like "Ooh"-ing over the man saying "Attention, all adults". I love how pretty this song is, but the weird sound bytes and the DJ-scratching sounds give it that weird, cool P5 sound. 9. "Ballerina" by Olivia One of Olivia's B-sides, though I actually like it better than some of her album tracks. It's very pretty and experimental, like most of Olivia's songs. This track seems like a precursor to her "NANA" track "Winter Sleep" (also a great song), with its winter-y feel and how it's a ballad. The song's like standing in the middle of a forest clearing during a slow beautiful snow, during Christmas, just spinning arounf like a ballerina. I do come up with some strange song descriptions....xD 10. "Beautiful World" by Utada Hikaru I love this song so much! I kinda fell out of love with Hikki for awhile after her "Ultra Blue" album, but her recent single made me remember why I love her. Great lyrics, pretty and soulful voice, and a very unique sound. This song kinda reminds me of her recent "Ultra Blue" album, with it's pretty, electronic sound. This song has an electro-pop feel, but it's more pretty and ballad-like. The instrumentation and background vocals are complex and layered, a trademark of Hikki's sound. This song feels like the series it comes from, Neon Genesis Evangelion, in a way. A pretty pop song and an angsty post-apocalyptic anime would seem to have nothing in common, but "Beautiful World" and Eva are both dreamy and complex, full of wonder and electronics. A fitting song for the new Eva movie. By the way, if anyone can provide me with a link to subs of that new Eva movie, I would greatly appreciate it! And as a bonus... "Bubble Trip" by Anna Tsuchiya I HATE THIS SONG. It's fucking growing on me!! I'm so sorry, pengie...Now I'm going around using "booty-tripping" in normal conversation....oh dear ^^; It's better though, when you stop thinking "This is the woman who sang songs like 'Lucy' and 'Kuroi Namida' and was Spin Aqua's lead singer" and start thinking "This is the woman who sang 'Slap That Naughty Body' (which I still swear, is even worse that this song)" Current Mood: cheerfulCurrent Music: "Bye My Boy" by the brilliant green | | Tuesday, August 28th, 2007 | | 11:27 pm |
tomorrow's mah birfdayz!! ^^... ...but first, some fanart! Title: Not Just the Basketball Guy Fandom: High School Musical Character(s)/Pairing(s): Troy Bolton Rating: G Disclaimer: High School Musical(c)Disney Note: This took me DAYS!! CG, why must you be so hard?! Anyways, I'd like to thank renmazuo from y!Gallery for her helpful tips on CG and shading! ( Bet on it! Bet on it! )Crossposted to hsm_art, disneychannel, and my y!Gallery____________________________________ Also, as mentioned above, tomorrow's my birthday!! Not saying how old I am, though. ;P I'm probably going to do some shopping and treat myself. I'm planning on getting some new CDs, particularly the singles from Utada Hikaru and Nami Tamaki, both which come out tomorrow. It's kinda interesting that two of the women who first got me into J-pop are starting a new chapter in their lives/careers at the same time I am. For me, it's a birthday-a new year to try and better myself, and to accomplish new goals. For Hikki, it's her first single that she will released as a divorced woman (she announced her divorce while promoting "Flavor of Life", but she had already released it). She no longer has her husband to rely on while she goes through the stress involved with the release of a single. She may still be depressed over the divorce (I'm assuming she was, based on some personal experiences), and the stress of releasing a new single may be taking a toll on her. But if she pulls through, she will come out not only successful as an artist, but as a person. She will be able to prove that she is a strong person. As for Nami, it's a new sound. She's been edging away from the dance-pop sound to more of a rock one, but this is the first rock A-side she's released. Nami's had decent sales in the past, but an image change might boost them. Conversely, members of her fan base may not like the new Nami, and not buy the single. For her, this next single could define where she's going in her career. Will she continue with her new style, or go back to her dance-pop roots? It'll be interesting to see this single's sales. I'm sorry if all that sounded weird...just my idea.... Okay, so I got another one of these letter memes from pengie, and this time around the letter was "U". It was a lot harder finding "U" songs than "N" songs. On my hard drive, I only found fifteen "U" songs, and three of those were different versions of Maki Goto's "Uwasa no Sexy guy"! xD There are a lot of good songs here, though, and I even upped two CDs onto my compy so I can get more. So, without further ado... 1. "UNITE!" by Ayumi Hamasaki Another songs from Ayu's "I am..." album! This one is really cool, because it reminds me of running-that sounds weird, but I think it will make more sense when you hear the songs. It just sounds very defiant and bold, and I like that mix of techno, piano, and rock. The lyrics are amazing as well, and they kinda go with the defiant tone of Ayu's voice, with lines like " Freedom in the right hand, Love in the left/We'll walk on, embracing both, and stumbling from time to time.". 2. "Uwasa no Sexy Guy" by Maki Goto The first H!P song I ever heard! I heard this on an online Jpop radio station, without knowing what H!P or Morning Musume was. I love the James Bond feel with this song-it makes it sounds very mature and sexy, yet fun. The title means "The Mysterious Sexy Guy", and it sounds like Maki is singing as a Bond girl, with the guy in the title being Bond himself. Also, this osng is fun to sing to, especially the "All night long!" and "Dry ni dakishimete! Uwasa no Sexy Guy!" parts. Just a really cute, catchy song. 3. "Utareru Ame" by Nana Kitade Nana, before she went all Goth-Loli and boring (I love Goth-Loli, but Nana's just overdoing it and it feels fake). This song is pop-rock, with the emphasis on rock. The guitar is really catchy and fun, and the melody is really catchy. The only part I don't like is the part where she sings "Damichi"(sp?) in the chorus. She's making a really weird sound, and it sounds kinda funny. Otherwise, great song! 4. "Under Starry Sky" by Shaka Labbits I recently got into Shaka Labbits, who started out as a ska-punk band, but then started to do more rock music, thoug hstill retaining some ska elements. This song isn't one of my favorites by them, but it's really good, and the melody is really sweet, and the guitars are both rocking and kinda pretty. A fun songs that really capture the title well-it does kinda feel like your at picnic at night, with a concert going on in the park. 5. "UNDERGROUND" by High Voltage The ending theme to the amazing anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The songs really fits well with the anime-it's punk, raw, and a lot of fun. This reminds me, I need to get caught up with the TTGL episodes...I'm only on episode five! But Kamina ftw! Though I love all of the cast. 6. "Utatane no Hibi [l'ecume des jours]" bu Luscious Orange I kinda downloaded this album on a whim-I have no clue who these guys are. But the music is really good. If you liked the Aiha Higurashi song for my last post, you'll probably really like this. It's very pretty and mellow, but really unique. The vocalist sings in a pretty, almost whispering voice, which makes me think of all of those Parisian cafes that you see in the movie where everyone wears berets and sips cappuccino and espresso. I know that sounds weird, but that what her vocals make me think of. The songs in general makes me think of the Paris you see in the movies (I don't know what actual Paris is like, as I've never been there), with all of the cafes and kissing on the Eiffel Tower and parties and flowers. 7. "Uso Mitai na I Love You" by Utada Hikaru I was kinda upset that I couldn't fit a Hikki song on the last list without getting rid of a song I really liked, so here's one! If you ever played Kingdom Hearts, she's the girl who did the English and Japanese theme songs for both games. It's really evident in this song, as the melody of "Simple & Clean" from KH1's chorus was taken from this song. Otherwise, the tracks couldn't be more different. This is a hard rock song, Hikki-style, meaning that there are a lot of pretty melodies, and a little hip-hop/R&B influence. Hikki's voice is really strong in this song as well. 8. "Unknown Orchestra" by UVERworld UVERworld is the group who also did the Bleach theme "D-Technolife", which is where I first heard them. Like that song, this one combines hard-rock, rapping, and techno. This song surpasses "D-Technolife" though, with it's complicated music, combining a pretty, addictive piano melody with agressive drums and vocals. This song just sounds like a beautiful snow storm! It kinda reminds me of the trance mix of Ayumi Hamasaki's "M" with the piano and vocals. I don't think words can explain how awesome it is! 9. "Up Periscope" by Drake Bell ZOMFG A NOT-JAPANESE SONG!! lol Anyways, this songs is from Drake's second album, "It's Only Time". His first album, "Telegraph" is a masterpiece (that is sadly out of print), but this album isn't as good in general. That said, there are some good songs, like this one. Drake is heavily influenced by the Beatles (yes, he's a teen star who writes his own music!), and that is apparent in this very "Yellow Submarine"-like song. It's very catchy and fun, and the cheeky, dirty lyrics just add to how much fun this song is to listen to. 10. "Urei" by Puffy AmiYumi One of my favorite Puffy songs. Puffy AmiYumi were my first Jpop love, after finding out about them through Teen Titans. This song is makes me think of rocket ships...maybe it's the beginning of the song. Like all of Puffy's rock songs, the guitar riff is loud and addictive, and the girl's harmony is perfect. This song is sexy, fun, and rocks really hard! xD So, comment if you take anything! If you comment, I will give you a letter! Current Mood: contentCurrent Music: Scandal by Kangta and Vanness | | 12:02 am |
Okay, I got a meme from pengie where I have to list ten songs on my playlist that start with "N". So, after putting all of the songs on my compy that started with an "N" on a playlist and narrowing it down, I decided on the following songs. Comment, and I will give you a letter to do the same thing with! And comment if you take anything! :) Enjoy! 1. "New Life" by Aiha Higurashi My current favorite song. I swear, if you don't want to hear more Aiha after hearing this song, you will be deleted from my friend's list! Okay, just kidding, but I will question your taste in music. Aiha's sound is a mix of indie rock like the Garden State soundtrack, Eighties pop, and just some really weird stuff, ONLY BETTER!! :P This song has a really catchy melody, and the music is really simple but unique. It's most acoustic pop, but the guitar line in the chorus is really pretty, and there is occasionally differnet style guitar-a country-like part, as well as one that is more hard rock and a Caribbean-ish one (I don't know how else to describe it!) This ong is just made of pure win. If you download one song, make it this one! 2. "Ne~e" by Aya Matsuura This song is just really cute and fun. It kinda reminds me of Grease. For all my HSM-loving friends, this kinda sounds like something Sharpay and Ryan would sing. It's really catchy and the backing track is very silly, yet complicated with all of the sounds that put it together. Ayaya's voice also happens to be very cute in this song. I love how she can do a cute voice like this, but also have a pretty one in songs like "Melodies", and she has a really good vocal range. 3. "Namida Girl" by Miki Fujimoto Ayaya, and now her lesbian lover GAM parter Mikitty! ^^ This song is surprisingly punky for an H!P song. Miki can pull it off really well though, with her strong, unique vocals and attitude. A really fun, catchy song from her only solo album so far. PLEASE UFA, GIVE MIKI BACK HER SOLO CAREER!!4. "Namie's Style" by Namie Amuro I've been listening to so much Namie lately, I had to put a song of hers. This song is the "intro" track to Style, her first hip-hop album. The tribal sounding beat compliments Namie's smooth vocal, and all of the shouts and rapping add to the fun. The English lyrics are similar to the boasting typical is a lot of US rap songs, only those are usually done by guys, instead of a cool, sexy girl like Namie. 5. "Nobara" by Shiina Ringo I didn't realize it, but I have most of Shiina Ringo's discography...hmmm. Anyways, when this track came on, my first though was "WTF?!" I really like that quality about it though. It's really weird, with the kazoos and Shiina's strange vocals. And the lyrics are in German! GERMAN!! How weird (yet cool) is that! And it's only two minutes... 6. "Namida Uri no Shoujo" by AKB48 The B-side to the excelent single "Keibetsu Shiteta Aijou". It has a hip-hop feel like the A-side, and adds in a slight South Asian sound. The harmonies are really amazing as well, and the tune is extremely catchy. AKB48 are like the Superbad to Morning Musume's High School Musical (yeah, I know, lame analogy...). Both are fun, but AKB48, like Superbad is a lot more mature and naughty, while MoMusu, even with the short skirts and young idols, is relatively wholesome and harmless, like HSM. I mean, it's not like MoMusu has released songs about suicide and enjo-kosai...yet! 7. "Nobody" by Aya Aya is one of the coolest female rockers out there. While the USA has to deal with Avril as their "punk" girl, Japan gets Aya, who is actually punk! This song just rocks hard, and Aya's vocals are powerful and raw. This song is from her amazing "Baghdad Sky" album, and if everyone likes this song enough, I will upload the full album! 8. "Never Ever" by Ayumi Hamasaki What could a list from me be without some Ayu, one of my biggest inspirations? This song is from her "I am..." album, which is far and way her best one. This song isn't particuarly popular, but it's one of my favorites. I love how she combines the pretty piano with hard rock guitars to make the song feel very emotionally delicate-she goes from a very quiet sadness in the verses to a strong anger in the chorus. At the end of the song, she seem to have gained some sort of balance, her voice calming down and the music going bakc to the piano sound. As always, Ayu wrote the lyrics (and this being an Ayu song, the lyrics need to be read), but she also composed this song as well, making it feel even more personal. 9. "Nephilim" by Abingdon Boys School Normally I'm more into female J-music, but I adore TM Revolution, so I decided I had to check out his newish group, Abingdon Boys School. They have a rock sound different that TMR's usually techno-pop songs (though he does incorporate rock into his music a lot), but the strong vocals and hooks customary of TMR. It starts out with a cool piano, but then goes into the chorus, which rocks really hard. This song is so good turned up to eleven! xD And it gets stuck in your head really easily, but in a good way! 10. "Nostalgic '69" by Love Psychedelico This song has a really cool Sixties rock sound, as hinted at in the title. It's a bit like older Sheryl Crow songs like "My Favorite Mistake", only better. The vocals are much more unique, and the guitar riff is really catchy and laid back and fun. This is just a good song to drive to, I'd guess (I haven't tried doing that). It has sort of a road trip feel to it. _________________ Sunday Countdown ftw! I love how Keith explained parts of his show to the unknowing audience, like Oddball with the Plays of the Summer, and mentioning and explaining the Special Comment (though he was probably better off not actually doing an SC. That would've scared off some viewers!) And while I was kinda upset that Bill-O wasn't WPitW, at least he got on the list, and Rush Limbaugh was in the top spot. And he had all of the regular guests (is Joel McHale considered a regular yet?), as well as Bob Costas and some other guys name who I don't remember (I'm not a sports fan). I love that shot of Keith standing next to Costas. Either 6' 4" is taller than I thought, or Costas is a midget. Never noticed that before-then again, I've only seen him a few times, and very standing up. And the ad that compared Countdown to The Daily Show is so much love. I've always thought that Countdown is an angrier TDS in a way. Keith happens to be a funny and witty, and I love that he's getting a chance to show that off to audiences who wouldn't know otherwise! _________________ Please, someone, make me stop listening to this song. It's like crack to me. And hte scene itself...oh dear. I love the pirouettes, the manly poses, the reflection. And song is catchy as hell... Zac Efron, I hate you now. Stop making me try and copy you dance, you whore. Bet on it, bet on it.... Yayz art ^^ I actually posted to my y!Gallery five billion years ago, but I'm posting it here now... Title: Friend of Dorothy Fandom: High School Musical Character(s)/Pairing(s): Ryan Evans Rating: G Disclaimer: High School Musical(c)Disney Note: Well, the term "friend of Dorothy" means that you are gay (for a man). And between the clothes and "I Don't Dance" and "Fabulous" and the drama club and baseball (a.k.a. the most homoerotic mainstream sport ever)...I think we can piece together what team Ryan's batting for...xD Also my second time coloring digitally! I'm probably going to do a watercolor version as well. The hat patter in from here, and the shirt is from here. ( But what's gayer? 'I Don't Dance' or 'Bet On It'? )Crossposted to hsm_art, love_lucas, lucasfans, and my y!GalleryBy the way, hsm_art is a new community I created for HSM fanart, if anyone is interested in joining :) I deleted my Chad/Ryan comm after finding the very active chyanxlove community, so if you are interested in the pairing, go there! ________________________ OMFG Countdown tomorrow! I wonder if the show will be any different due to it being on the main channel and on a Sunday. Keith said he isn't gonna change anything, but I'm not sure if that was something that was promised, or if it was just his wish. I'm so excited, especially after that vacation Keith took where I couldn't see him for awhile. ^^ I wonder if he'll really pull out all of the stops and bring on some really great guests and maybe even do a Special Comment (though what is there that would SC about?). And he'll probably find something that he can use to make O'Reilly WPitW. He can't present himself to a new audience without showing off at least some of his trademarks, O'Reilly's reign as King of WPitW probably being one of them. It's one of his less offensive and most fun (excepting to Fox Noise, of course!). Remember, it's at seven at night on NBC, whatever the station is in your area. WHAT TIME IS IT?! Time for me to finally review High School Musical 2! All summer I've been looking forward to this movie, so I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint! It was even more ridiculous and over the top than the first one, which I enjoyed. The more silly HSM is, the better. That is one of the reasons like the series, after all! I loved how they expanded Ryan's character more. He's my favorite, and I though that how he changed from a very insecure boy who lived in his sister's shadow to a very confident, more independent person was really well done. Lucas Grabeel's dancing also got a lot better. In the first movie, he was very loud and enthusiastic, but he wasn't as sharp as Ashley Tisdale. This movie, he improved a lot, especially seen in my favorite number, "I Don't Dance" (more on that later). Lucas is very talented, and we got to see that more in this movie. This movie also felt more sophisticated than the first one. The songs in the first one were fun and catchy, but this new soundtrack didn't feel as Disney, and was more ambitious genre-wise. For example, "I Don't Dance" mixed swing with hip-hop, while "All For One" had a retro feel to it. The sophisticated feel continued through out the movie, with the focus being on college and the future, something that for much of the tween fan base, feels light years away. Sharpay was meaner and more manipulative, as she showed that she would do anything to get her way, including betraying a family member and ruining the summer of all of the country club's employees. My favorite scene, as mentioned before, was "I Don't Dance", a baseball themed number with Chad and Ryan. Corbin and Lucas are probably the best dancers in the cast, and they both pull off playing baseball pretty well. The best part though, is the gay. I swear, Chad and Ryan have even better chemistry than Troy and Gabriella! xD (Then again, I'm not a Troyella fan...) The song itself was really good. I love the mix of swing and hip-hop, and the tune is really catchy ans fun. I've been singing it all of the time! I even set it as my ringtone xD The dance is really good too, especially the part where Ryan's team and Chad's team are having some sort of dance-off, and then Ryan and Chad step thisclose to each other. Ryan's little moves at the pitcher's mound were too cute as well! And then the best part is THEY SWITCH CLOTHES. Obviously, they must've been fooling around, and then though it would be funny if they got dressed in each other's clothes. This wasn't the only instance of gay in this movie. Ryan's Elton John inspired part in "Fabulous"; Troy and Chad's little lover's quarrel, as well as when they make up; Troy's capris in "All For One"; and many more examples that I can't remember at the moment, but probably will when I rewatch the movie. Just read this thread to get a basic idea of it all. To celebrate all of the gay in this movie, I created a new community- chad_ryan chad_ryan chad_ryanAll in all, a very enjoyable movie! I've seen in twice all ready, and I can't wait to watch it again! Current Mood: calmCurrent Music: I Don't Dance from High School Musical 2 | | Wednesday, August 15th, 2007 | | 11:27 pm |
RE: Tonight's Daily Show HOLY FUCK. I think I just came. I love how Jon handled the neo-con Cheney-supporter he was interviewing. He didn't just let him spew spit, he argued his point and pointed out both Cheney and the author's stupidity. I also love how he mentioned John Gibson's attack on him, and called him out as well. And Colbert's Jewish jokes are very cute. I bet the punchline had to do with matzah...xD ETA: Monkey on the Lam! xD I wonder how many times he'll get to use that graphic... Sorry I haven't posted in awhile! I've been too lazy...xD Anyways, I come with gifts! \o/ I went to a Japanese market the other day, and I picked up some awesome goods! I got a cute plushie of Renji from Bleach in a kimono, an Evangelion Gakuen blind box figure (it ended up being a cute girl version of the Jet Alone), the Shaka Labbits CD "Uso wo Mazekonda Shinjitsu no Soup", a lot of Japanese junk food (peach Calpico has calcium? xD, and a copy of a Japanese hip-hop magazine called Woofin' Girl (odd name...), which had Namie Amuro on the cover. The cover was the best picture I've ever seen of Namie. I swear, I would've picked up this magazine for the cover even if I didn't know who she was! ( First, take a look at it... )What I love about this picture is how Namie has this down-but-not-out thing going on. Like she's just lost round one, but is gonna come back stronger for round two. And that's what her career is like to. She was a huge hit with the Super Monkey's and as a dance-pop singer, but then she went through some troubled times both professionally and personally, before coming back even stronger with a brand new hip-hop sound. I admire Namie a lot for her strength, pulling through the tragedy of her mother being murdered to reinvent herself and become an artist in control of her image and music, going from the dance-pop that made her successful to a unique hip-pop sound and style. If anyone would like, I have the magazine scans here, which include many more sexy/cute/cool images of Namie, as well as an interview (which anyone could translate if they want *wink wink*) --- Now, for some arts! MUST DRAW MOAR~!! xD Anyways, enjoy :) The title comes from a song by Ayumi Hamasaki with the same name that I was listening to while drawing this. ( I tried to find a lyric from the song to fit here, but they were typical Ayu lyrics-too sad and introspective to go with the picture. )Crossposted to scrubs_art, imnosuperman, guy_love, scrubs_slash, and my y!Gallery-- I've been listening to Maaya Sakamoto's "Lucy" album a lot lately. It's really good-full of unique melodies and pretty acoustic guitars. I've always loved Maaya's sweet, soothing voice, and this is the first time I've gotten to hear her single something other than anime songs. If anyone's interested, I'm putting it up for download here. If you like acoustic, indie music, you'd probably really like Maaya. Plus, I recently found out that she is the Japanese dub voice for Rose from Doctor Who, so bonus points for DW fans! xD -- I've been so happy recently with Karl Rove leaving and all. It would be funny if he actually did work on the Colbert Report. I mean, I wonder how the show would be used to destroy world peace. Someone should write a fic like that, with character!Stephen...xD -- High School Musical 2 in two days! ^^ I hope that it's entertaining! I really liked the first HSM for it's cute silliness-it's kinda stupid, but really fun. I hope that this new movie is just as awesome. I'm trying to draw Troy in celebration of the premiere, but although I got him down, none of the pictures I drew look good. I will draw an awesome picture of Troy, even if it takes me all night! xD -- I love this icon...xD Cox/Kelso could be an interesting pairing. Just no smexin' please! Hey! I got back from DC last night. I had a lot of fun there :) I went to the Natural History museum, which was so much fun! I saw an Imax movie about lions, and it was really interesting. Female lions are so cool! I always knew they were the hunters, but see them in action was amazing. And I loved that they can be bot hfierce and tender with the children. I swear, they are the coolest! I also saw the Simpsons Movie. It was really funny! Spiderpig=ftw! And I loved how there would be multiple jokes going on at once! I recently signed up for a yaoi RPG board. I posted up a Roy/Ed RP there, but seems no one is interested, so I'm posting it here if my f-list is interested. I'll probably post it to an RP community too. ( Behind the cut! )If anyone is interested, comment here and I'll give you my AIM screen name. Hi, from Washington DC! Yeah, I'm here on vacation :) I haven't really done any touristy things yet. I got here late and wasn't feeling well, so I just ate an early dinner and saw a movie. I went to see Ratatouille, and it was amazing! There are many CGI films out there today, and many of them have a same overly bright, sharp look to them. Then Pixar comes along and blows them all away. I've been a Pixar fan ever since I saw "Toy Story" when it came out in theaters. I was originally blown away by the 3D-looking graphics, and I still am, twelve years later. Pixar changed around the tired look of too bright and childish CG, and animated Ratatouille with soft colors and smooth, round lines. Unlike the harsh look normally associated with CGI, Ratatouille was gentle and pretty. It fit the film, which was set in a romantic version of Paris, well. Also, the story of a rat who wanted be a chef, was unique to begin with, but the execution made it feel even more unusual and enjoyable. The rat, named Remy, meets up with a nerdy klutz named Linguine, who is the garbage boy in a once-revered Parisian restaurant. Linguine is accused of making a dish actually made by a very sneak Remy, but since the soup the rat made is delicious, Linguine is given a job as chef. Remy cooks for Linguine, and this is done in a rather clever way, and this also causes much physical comedy. The comedy in many CGI films tends to be either bathroom jokes aimed at little kids or innuendos for their parents. Ratatouille has neither, the humour being neither to juvenile or too mature, and focuses on using humour to help along the plot. The movie never feels crude or distasteful without being too preachy. The moral of the story, that something great can come from an unexpected place, isn't shoved down our throats, and isn't truly revealed until later in the film, with some quick words by one of the characters, who learned that lesson near the end of the movie. There is some romance, but it is shown in a way that isn't overly sappy or oversexed. All in all, Ratatouille is revolutionary for daring to present old fashioned style in a brand new package.
